The Technical University of Denmark (DTU) is one of the highest ranked technical universities in Europe. With about EUR 536m / DKK 4bn in its project portfolio, DTU also ranks among the biggest developers in Denmark. The majority of the projects are being carried out at DTU’s main campus in Lyngby-Taarbæk, 15 kilometres north of Copenhagen.

The comprehensive transformation of the university's buildings and infrastructure includes more than 20 different building projects. The aim is to create the best conditions for a world-class technical university which can attract the best researchers and students from all over the world. The plan includes the construction of new buildings, extensive renovations and conversions, and equipping new, ultra-modern laboratories and research facilities to the highest international standard.

In developing Lyngby Campus, DTU is strengthening its bio-scientific research environment by bringing most of it together under one roof. With a unified bio-scientific research environment on the DTU Lyngby Campus, the university will be able to strengthen partnerships between academically related engineering disciplines, utilize shared research facilities, and boost the involvement of DTU’s research staff in teaching the next generation of engineers. The goal is to create a research environment that is even more attractive to leading international researchers and ambitious students both from Denmark and abroad.

Looking ahead to 2017, about 1,000 DTU staff - researchers, lecturers and consultants working within bioengineering and life science - will have relocated to the new facilities in Lyngby.
