Within the diverse business community of Brøndby, the 3 largest industrial estates – Kirkebjerg, Ragnesminde and Priorparken - are hives of activity. Kirkebjerg

The industrial estate of Kirkebjerg has been a centre of activity and development since the 1950s - and development plans are set to transform the traditional industrial area in the future into a desirable neighbourhood with housing, green spaces and businesses. Today, Kirkebjerg is home to both traditional businesses and knowledge-based and service companies as well as a number of shops selling bulky goods, cars and furniture with an attractive location near Søndre Ringvej. Kirkebjerg borders on the Glostrup Municipality with easy access to Glostrup train station. One of two future light rail stops in Brøndby will be sited nearby and will provide easy access to Kirkebjerg for customers and employees.

Ragnesminde

Sited near the motorway and with good connections to Copenhagen, the airport and the eastern and southern parts of Greater Copenhagen, Ragnesminde is an attractive location for large freight companies, distribution centres, and warehouses. Today, Ragnesminde is home to factories as well as distribution centres belonging to several manufacturing companies.

Priorparken

Priorparken’s special feature is its fence, enclosing the industrial estate. Many companies find Priorparken very attractive because the site has controlled access. Companies located in Priorparken are typically working in the fields of Research and Development, services and administration.  The compound offers ample parking for companies, and is only a short distance from the motorway and public transport to Glostrup and Brøndbyøster train station.

Sportsbyen

Sportsbyen is an appointed regional development area for the sport and leisure economy. Sportsbyen is about 300,000 m2, large parts of which have already been used for buildings and parking for local amenities. Brøndby Stadion, Idrættens Hus, Brøndby Hallen and SOSU C (one of the largest basic health care colleges in Denmark) are sited in Sportsbyen.

Sportsbyen is mainly intended for regional, sports-related activities and provides facilities for:

  • Organisations for physical education
  • Educational institutions
  • Scientific academic research
  • Health care or rehabilitation

Today, Sportsbyen features an elite sports centre in Idrættens Hus. Football, handball, volleyball, and other types of sports are played in Idrættens Hus, which also offers seating facilities for spectators. Business meeting and conference facilities, restaurants, and a hotel are also to be found at Sportsbyen. 

There are currently plans to create business clusters for sports-related businesses and education and activities for both professional and amateur athletes. Leisure activities such as concerts, conferences and events could also be held.

Brøndby Municipality will ensure that a good balance between regional and local sports-related activities is achieved, and will aim to provide good accessibility by public transport to and from Sportsbyen. The Municipality is working on a development plan for Sportsbyen with a range of external collaborators.
