Hillerød, Favrholm

Favrholm, Hillerød

Hillerød’s new district of Favrholm

The new district of Favrholm on the outskirts of Hillerød will be centred around a new train station as well as a brand new hospital for the 320,000 citizens of North Zealand. The train station will serve both the suburban and Lokalbanen rail networks. Favrholm will be a future home for 3,000-4,000 new inhabitants and will potentially create 6,000-8,000 new employment opportunities. Furthermore, the new hospital, Nordsjællands Hospital, will employ around 4,000 people.

Favrholm will also consist of a substantial area designated for business purposes covering  a total of 350,000 m2. This will provide multi-storey buildings for offices and services, laboratories and development, as well as for companies dealing with health tech, medico, IT and the like. This area is in addition to the approximately 124,000 m2 set aside for the hospital. Furthermore, 1,600 residential homes are planned in Favrholm. These include multi-storey buildings as well as detached houses, some in closer proximity than others.

The City Council of Hillerød has decided on a master plan for the development of Favrholm. As focal points, Favrholm will have a new train station for the suburban train line to/from Copenhagen and the local train to Frederiksværk/Hundested as well as the new hospital for North Zealand.

The construction of the hospital will commence in 2017 and is expected to be completed by the end of 2020. The new train station, which will serve Favrholm and the hospital, will be completed at the very latest by the day the hospital opens.

In addition to the train station and the hospital, Favrholm will provide premises for offices and service companies as well as close-knit multi-storey buildings near to the station. Buildings will be positioned further apart from each other the further they are from the station and consist of single-storey buildings as well as office blocks. The outskirts of the district of Favrholm will contain single-storey residential buildings as well as premises for businesses that need to be near the major connecting roads and at the same time be visible from these roads. The roads connect major cities such as Køge, Roskilde, Hillerød, Helsingør as well as Helsingborg in Sweden.

The goal is to strengthen the current business profile of Hillerød, which consists of large medico companies among others. The development of Favrholm, and the construction of the new hospital as well as the new municipal health centre are part of this process, providing optimal opportunities for the establishment of additional medico companies as well as companies dealing with health care, IT and the like.

Region Hovedstaden is responsible for the planning and construction of the new hospital. The project and development of the train station is a co-operative project between BaneDanmark, Lokalbanen and the municipality of Hillerød.
