Orestad overview

Orestad

Orestad is a driver in Copenhagen’s reinvention. A reinvention that brings corporate headquarters, architectural innovation, and one of Northern Europe’s largest nature reserves to the heart of the city.

Ørestad was the first development area in the region to benefit from the Öresund Bridge and the proximity of Copenhagen Airport by creating a modern district on a former military training ground close to the city centre.

Ørestad

Ørestad is a driver in Copenhagen’s reinvention.

Ørestad is at the heart of the Copenhagen-Malmö Region. Being the intersection of communication lines with six metro stations, direct train service to the airport and direct access to the highway, makes Ørestad a regional hub.

Ørestad Nord is home to DR – the Danish Broadcasting Corporation; DR concert hall; the IT University of Copenhagen and the University of Copenhagen’s South Campus. These institutions all benefit from a unique location just 5 minutes from Copenhagen city centre with the metro.

Along with Ørestad Nord, Ørestad City is the most developed district in Ørestad. The area has quickly become the main business centre for the Ørestad region and offers a central location between the airport and the city centre, excellent transport links and a wide variety of leisure, shopping and recreational facilities. Its modern office facilities have already attracted a number of large companies.

Ørestad Syd is quickly developing into a modern new neighbourhood characterized by iconic buildings and close proximity to the stunning nature of Kalvebod Fælled. The main street Asger Jorns Allé is the focus for all public functions and activities and will provide many facilities and opportunities for sport and exercise.

  • Ørestad Innovation City Copenhagen (ØICC) is a new network for innovation and entrepreneurship based in Ørestad. It facilitates cross-sector collaboration and aims to create Greater Copenhagen’s most powerful hub for innovation, knowledge and creativity. More about ØICC
  • Big, green and spacious. Ørestad is in many ways the opposite of Copenhagen’s dense centre. Channels and green spaces take nature to the doorstep. Here, distinctive urban design, modern buildings and urban space interact with the surrounding natural areas
  • Ørestad has experienced an influx of corporate headquarters, and is also the home of a convention centre and the largest hotel in Scandinavia. Besides, the IT University, University of Copenhagen, Danish Broadcasting Corporation, Jean Nouvel’s Concert Hall and Copenhagens new super arena Royal Arena are also located in Ørestad

App. half of the floor space in Ørestad has already been developed.
